I’m Nefeli, I’m 23 (soon to be 24) and I’m an EFL teacher from Greece. On this blog we’ll talk together about books and all things reading. I found this tag on The Bookish Lounge and I think it’s the best way to introduce myself to the community.
1. Why did you start this blog?
I created this blog primarily because I have many thoughts and opinions on books and almost no one to share them with. Also, I’ve been feeling a strong creative itch these past few days and I thought this was a good way to channel it.
2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
Well, I’m Greek, so I want to bring a non-native English speaking point-of-view in the community. As for the actual content, I can’t bring myself to write reviews unless the book really inspires me to do it, but I plan on writing many discussion pieces related to literature, participating in tags and making lists. Also, I think I’m funny!
3. What are you most excited for about this new blog?
It’ll be nice to to discuss my thoughts with others instead of talking to myself for once. Also, I’m really looking forward to engaging with the community here (or at least try to if miss anxiety lets me). Plus, I’m already in love with making (tolerable) graphics for my posts!
4. Why do you love reading?
It’s all about the stories, chico. We’re humans and humans thrive on stories. I live to hear, read and tell stories. I truly believe that nothing is more powerful than a good tale.
5. What book or series got you into reading?
It’s been so long I don’t even remember. I feel like reading came naturally to me, as naturally as breathing. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t reading everything that fell into my hands. That said, there are three books that I distinctly remember from my childhood:
Unfortunately, the two greek ones haven’t been translated in English.
6. What questions would you ask your favourite authors?
I would ask them how they feel knowing that their stories have touched so many hearts around the world. Also, I would like to know why the love torturing me.
7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
Keeping up with a posting schedule, for sure. One, because work keeps me very busy all week. Two, because I’m worried I’ll run out of ideas.
8. When did you start reading?
The very first year I learned how to read. I picked up a few books during the summer after first grade and that was it; a reader was born! But, even before then, my parents would play audio books for my brother and I to listen to every night to fall asleep and that nurtured my love for written worlds.
9. Where do you read?
Everywhere! When I was in uni I used to read on the bus every day, when we go to the beach I bring at least one book with me, when we’re prepping new year’s dinner I read on the kitchen counter. My most common reading spot, however, is my comfy bed.
10. What kind of books do you read?
I try to read a little bit of everything. Except for horror, I don’t do horror. I love classics and historical fiction and my absolute favourite genre is fantasy.
That’s it! Now you know a little bit about me. I don’t know anyone to tag obviously (and I don’t know how to even do that either), but I look forward to meeting new people through this blog, so comment below anything you want about you and your reading tastes. Also, please tell me your favourite blogs, I want to discover more blogs.
